As the City Composer of Tilburg, Mathijs Leeuwis wrote a composition for nature reserve Moerenburg. Put on your headphones and wander around this urban fata morgana. You will find out that nothing is what it seems.
A composition made with sounds from the Moerenburg nature and landscape area and from ensemble VONK, the ensemble in residence of the City Composer of Tilburg. Mathijs Leeuwis was guided by urban ecologist Gert Brunink in the area and started his own research there. He has made a piece that blends in with the environment. Music that changes just like our environment and in which a beginning or end is difficult to identify. Call it music that does not necessarily needs to be listened to, but is above all subordinate to and in the service of a greater experience. This may make it music that does not want to be heard, but music that requires eyes. Eyes that look at the world with a small frame and dare to recognize beauty where dirt appears.
Bring your smartphone and headphones to Moerenburg, scan the QR code on the sign at café Zomerlust and get lost. Check out more about Moerenburg here.
