The second in a series of group residencies in Het Concreet took place with Angela de Weijer, Eduardo Gaspar Polo Baader and Göksel Yilmaz. Whereas previously we always worked with short, intensive periods with one guest, now we invited three guests at the same time. Totally different creators who have never worked together before come together for three days in our studio to search for a new, shared sound. It became a wonderful world full of collisions and fusion. Flute modulated synth systems, Turkish vocals crumpled tape and feedback sent us into uncharted territory as a group. We believe deeply in the convergence of worlds, precisely when idiom is pulled away as a starting point.

Whereas Het Concreet actually always works from a non-knowing and the extraction of an expediency, these group residencies center on a larger plan. We are working, slowly but steadily, to build an electroacoustic orchestra. An ensemble without a conductor, but with a will of its own. The group residencies are the first research steps towards this orchestra.
