On the 25th of October we will host the second event in a series of listening sessions: the Tape Listening Sessions. With these listening sessions we want to share the experience of listening to an original tape on good sounding equipment. Our second guest is Jos Smolders, a Tilburg-based composer of electronic and electroacoustic works. Since 1980, he has built up an extensive repertoire. Smolders is active as mastering engineer, producing albums and restoring 20th-century electronic music. This evening will center around Smolders’ connection to the pioneering work of Pierre Henry. Henry is one of the founding fathers of musique concrète. Henry was also the direct reason for Jos Smolders to choose electronic music as a creative expression.
